Stevenson Ranch Elementary School PTO Membership Meeting December 14, 2022

Kira Grossi called the Stevenson Ranch Elementary School Membership Meeting to order at 7:06pm (via Zoom).

• ●  Pledge of Allegiance.

• ●  Motion to approve minutes from 11/16 membership meeting - carried.

  Treasurer’s Report

● November 2022

• ○  Beginning balance: $113,863.75

• ○  Inflows: $603.83

• ○  Outflows: $36,255.81

• ○  Ending balance: $78,211.77

• ○  Shilpa made a motion to approve all checks from November, motion carried.

• ○  Motion to ratify October 2022 checks/motion carried.

  Teachers’ Report - Mrs. Grief

• ●  Teachers are very excited for Wrangler Round Up (WRU).

• ●  Teachers keep mentioning Apex as a vendor.

• ●  Teachers are ready for winter break.

  President’s Report

• ●  Board welcomes new members.

  • ○  Steve Pope is now VP and will be working with the Room Reps and creating a thorough roster.

  • ○  Ana Hill will take over as Historian for the rest of the year.

• ●  Kindness Week recap

  • ○  It was absolutely awesome!

  • ○  The students loved the paper chain with kind words, and the appreciation cards

    to unseen heroes.

  • ○  The t-shirts brought in $100.

  • ○  Lianna and Margaret sponsored and organized the event. THANK YOU!

• ●  Astronomy Night

  • ○  Will be Janurary 27.

  • ○  It will be a picnic dinner, bring your own.

  • ○  Hot chocolate and warm cookies will be provided.

  • ○  A sign-up genius for rsvp will be required for this event.

  • ○  Possible craft.

○ More details TBD.

• ●  Science Fair

  • ○  SRE loves science!

  • ○  Science Enrichment is already filled.

  • ○  Feb 1 is the Science Fair set up, Feb 7 will be the ceremony.

  • ○  More students need to sign up.

  • ○  You must register to participate in the Science Fair.

• ●  Family Dance

  • ○  Will be Feb 10.

  • ○  80s theme.

  • ○  It will take place in the MPR.

• ●  International Night

  • ○  March 10.

  • ○  Jackie and Elena are co-chairs.

  • ○  If students want to host a booth/be an ambassador for a specific country, they

    must register online to participate.

  • ○  You can register on the PTO website.

  • ○  These presentations can be simple or elaborate.

  • ○  Use a trifold.

  • ○  We want to be sure we have a large representation of countries.

• ●  Wrangler Round Up (WRU)

  • ○  Will be on April 14, 2023.

  • ○  Libet is the chair.

  • ○  $5,000 budget approved.

  • ○  We need to sell 500 tickets at $10 to make this a break-even event.

  • ○  150 people responded to a survey indicating that they are interested in renaming

    this event.

  • ○  A sign-up genius will be sent out so people can sign up to volunteer and help.

  • ○  This will be a scaled down version of what we’ve seen in the past. The goal is to

    bring our community together and to keep the tradition going in some way. But

    we need volunteers to make it happen. We cannot stress this enough.

  • ○  We are looking at having food trucks, possibly Hamburger Planet or Bella

    Garden.

• ●  Yearbook Cover

  • ○  Kindness theme.

  • ○  Student cover design competition.

  • ○  Teachers will vote on the yearbook cover winner.

  • ○  Deadline to enter is January 13.

    Principal Stenroos’s Report

• ●  First Grade Song Fest was so beautiful!

• ●  Stevenson Ranch collected so many clothing and food donations for our community.

  Wiley Canyon was beyond grateful for all the items SRE gave.

• ●  School Board has approved our marquee at the district level. It is 100% going through!

  (PTO donated $15,000 toward this upgrade).

• ●  Principal Stenroos wants to reassure students and families that SRE will have night events as well as day events on campus.

• ●  Principal Stenroos stressed the importance of staying alert and walking in pairs and practicing good safety precautions in and around campus.

• ●  Please drop students safely in the valet line.

  Nominating Committee

• ●  The Nominating Committee members are as follows: Gabby Borda, Survena Mistry,

  Shilpa Muthalya, Margaret Williamson, Sabra Rettman, Madhu Chawla.

• ●  Motion to have these members placed on the Nominating Committee / motion carried.

• ●  Election will be held in March.

  Miscellaneous

• ●  Please go to the PTO website (srepto.net) to register for all events and volunteer

  opportunities.

• ●  Chipotle dinner night brought in $284.25.

• ●  Amazon Smiles brought in $220.80.

• ●  Please be sure to sign up for Amazon Smiles (amazonsmiles.com).

  January 9, 2023 - return to school.
  January 18, 2023 - next PTO meeting (time and place TBD)
