Stevenson Ranch Elementary School PTO Association Meeting March 22, 2023

President Kira Grossi, called the Stevenson Ranch Elementary School PTO Association Meeting to order at 8:35 am in the Library.

In attendance: Kira Grossi, Gabby Borda, Steve Pope, Shilpa Muthyala, Denise Convert, and Ana Hill

Absent: Kevin Yuan

TREASURER REPORT – Shilpa Muthyala

Shilpa presented the following report:

• ●  Balance on hand as of 02/2023

• ●  Total Inflows

• ●  Total Outflows

• ●  Ending Balance as of 02/28/2023

$79,299.99 $1,708.98 $22,628.65 $58,380.32

Shilpa made a motion to pay February 2023 checks/motion carried. Shilpa made a motion to ratify January 2023 checks/ motion carried.

Book Fair – Kira Grossi

• ●  At the end of the book fair, teachers shopped $1337 to add new books to their class library.

• ●  Motion to use the remaining $1582 on school library books – Motion Seconded and Carried.

  PTO Commitment – 2023/2024 Innovations & WIN Programs

• SRE is the only Newhall District School that provides this program. It serves as an enrichment program in various ways. The program provides teachers to facilitate additional services such as interventions, teaching students in small groups, and enriching those with high-level achievement.

• PTO to commit to donating $20k to next year’s school budget. The funding will help with salaries and maintain the current program.

• Ana Hill and Margret Williamson suggested more advertising in this program to SRE’s parents.

• Discuss adding a second fundraiser next school year to help fund this program.

• Further discussion of the PTO’s budget will commence in May of 2023.

  PRINCIPAL’S REPORT – Mrs. Stenroos

● The SRE marquee is up and running.

• ●  Parent Conferences are going up for the week of March 27th -29th.

• ●  Report cards will be via the Aeries website.

• ●  Mrs. Stenroos thanked Mr. Pope for communicating weather and makeup updates to all those

  in Runners Club.

• ●  Thanked the PTO for hosting International Night, the students and teachers at SRE had plently of

  positive remarks regarding the event.

  TEACHER’S REPORT – Jackie Willen

• Thanked the PTO for the new books in the teacher’s classroom library.

Approval of Minutes

• Gaby Borda moved to approve the February 15, 2023 meeting minutes. Seconded, motion carried.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Kira Grossi

• Announced the Interm Recording Secretary – Jacky Rivera

Auditor’s Report – Denise Convert

• Denise found no issues in auditing our accounts.

• Denise thanked Shilpa and Kevin for their diligence in keeping meticulous accuracy on the PTO

  accounts.

• Denise motioned to approve the auditor report. Seconded, motion carried.

  COMMITTEE REPORTS:

  Runner’s Club – Steve Pope

• Due to weather conditions, six runner’s club sessions were canceled this year.

• The original last day runners club was March 21, 2023. Steve added an extra day on Tuesday,

  March 28, 2023.

• The award ceremony will be held on April 17, 2023.

  International Night – Jacky Rivera

• Jacky thanked Mrs. Stenroos and Kira for making the event possible due to the past health order from the Department of Health Order.

• The event was held on the evening of March 10, 2023.

• The event had four live performances from Chile, India, China, and Scotland.

• We had 20 booth hosts/ambassadors from various countries around the world.

• The feedback from the ambassadors was positive. They formed new relationships with parents

  in SRE from the same ethnic background.

• The turnout was fantastic, with at least 300 guests.

• Various students and teachers gave positive feedback on the event.

• Pto is hoping for a more significant event next school year.

  Expressions – Ana Hill

• This year’s theme is “I am The Future.”

• The entry deadline is April 14, 2023.

• The categories: Visual Arts, Photography, Film Production, Music Composition, and Literature.

  Wrangler Festival – Libet Sarkissian

• The event is coming along well.

• PTO is encouraging all SRE families to get their tickets to the event asap.

• Volunteer students/adults will get a discount on the ticket.

  Board Elections:

  The PTO board nominees for the school year of 2023 – 2024 are as follows:

  • President: Kira Grossi

  • Vice President: Jacky Rivera

  • Treasurer: Open – A special election will be held at a later time.

  • Financial Secretary: Ileana King

  • Recording Secretary: Margaret Williamson

  • Historian: Ana Hill

  • Auditor: Shannon Sommer

    Motion voiced to elect all nominees to board positions, motion/carried. Kira adjourned the meeting at 10:12 am.
